The Member of Parliament for Asutifi North, Ebenezer Kwaku Addo, is scheduled to appear at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters in Accra today, November 4, 2025.
His lawyer, Kwasi Gyamfi Boadu, confirmed the development in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, following a directive by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno.
Mr. Boadu noted that they have not officially received an invitation from the police but will comply with the directive.
“We haven’t officially received the IGP’s invite, but for calm to prevail and to ensure the truth is established, we have decided to honour it even after seeing it on social media. We initially planned to go on Monday, but it was late. So we will go today,” he said.
The invitation is part of police investigations into the recent attack on the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) office at Hwidiem in the Ahafo Region.
The NAIMOS task force, led by Colonel Dominic Boah, was attacked by a mob after apprehending suspected illegal miners near Bronikrom.
Preliminary police findings indicate the team had arrested several suspects and seized items including a Smith & Wesson pistol, ammunition, two pistol magazines, an unregistered Range Rover, an unregistered Toyota RAV4, and several mobile phones.
According to the police, Mr. Addo allegedly arrived with a group of people demanding the release of the detainees — an allegation the MP has strongly denied.
Mr. Addo has reaffirmed his commitment to the rule of law, public order, and the safety of his constituents, pledging full cooperation with the police.
