Governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) is calling on the nation to shun any acts of violence, intolerance and impunity that has the tendency to disturb the peace and tranquillity of the nation.
The NDC urged "the nation to use the occasion to rededicate ourselves to ensuring peace and security in the country especially, as the nation goes to the polls at the end of the year."
This was in a statement released Tuesday, signed by the General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, in which the party extended its warmest praise in congratulating Muslims in Ghana and the world over on a successful completion of fasting in the month of Ramadan.
"This dedication, undoubtedly, gives credence to Muslims' cherish vision and expectations of seeking perpetual peace, welfare and development of mankind," the statement said.
Muslims across the world fasted for 30 days this year and will mark the end of the month of Ramadan on Wednesday, June 6, with various celebrations.
Muslims the world over started fasting on June 6 upon sighting the moon. Muslims are commanded by Allah to fast for 29/30 days depending on the sighting of the moon which signals the end of the month of Ramadan.
On the first of Shawwal, the Islamic month that follows Ramadan, Muslims celebrate to observe Eid-ul-Fitr in marking the end of the month of Ramadan.
The NDC believes the 30 days of fasting which forms one of the core pillars of Islam has deepened the faith and spiritually strengthened Muslims relationship and engagement with Allah.
Mr Asiedu Nketiah also used the occasion to commend Muslims for the zeal and commitment with which they ceaselessly prayed for the nation and the world during Ramadan.
Johnson Asiedu Nketiah wished all "Muslims Baraka da Salah.”
