Nestlé has been awarded Top Food and Beverages Sustainability award in Ghana, by the Trade Ministry and the Millennium Excellence Foundation, at the Maiden edition of the Ghana Expatriate Business Awards.
A citation accompanying the award states, “the prize is awarded to Nestlé by the Government and people of Ghana in recognition of service to mankind. This company has further demonstrated its dedication and commitment to create an enabling environment at the national and local levels in order to achieve sustained economic growth and development whilst supporting Ghana’s effort for peace, stability, and security”.
According to Mrs Freda Duplan, “this accolade is an attestation of Government recognizing Nestlé’s contribution to Nation building and it motivates us to go further and strive for another remarkable 60 years of Good Food Good life for individuals, families and Communities in Ghana. This is in line with our company’s purpose: enhancing the quality of life and contributing to a healthier future”.
Mrs Duplan thanked the Ministry and dedicated the award to Regulatory Agencies, individuals, families and customers.
Over the last 60 years, Nestlé has helped to build a sustainable food chain by building the capacity of over 200,000 smallholder farmers through its Nestlé Cereal Plan and the Nestlé Cocoa Plan. In Central and West Africa including Ghana, Nestlé sources about 70% of raw materials locally, helping to build local economies.
Leveraging on its expertise in Nutrition, Quality Assurance in Food manufacturing, and the company manufactures safe and highly nutritious products while providing employment to some 1600 Ghanaians working in both the technical, nutrition, sales marketing and other related functions.
Under its Creating Shared Value approach, we ensure that from farmer to individuals and families, we create value for society and ensure growth to support the business and the local economy.
The Ghana Expatriate Awards aims at rewarding expatriates businesses for their immense contribution to the economic development of Ghana.
