In this segment of Newsfile on JoyNews, host Samson Lardy Anyenini and his guests discussed the use of a private jet for presidential travel by President John Dramani Mahama.
The guests shared their perspectives on the arrangement and offered advice to the President, with some expressing support for the development while others raised concerns.
Recently, President Mahama was seen using his brother Ibrahim Mahama’s newly acquired private jet, branded “Dzata,” for official travels.
The President and his delegation used the aircraft for a recent trip to South Korea, where he signed several memoranda of understanding and also launched a vessel named after Ghana — Asharami Ghana — in Seoul.
During the discussion, the panel also examined the President’s recent directive banning international travel for heads of state institutions, a measure introduced amid concerns over potential conflicts of interest.
Below is a video capturing the guests’ views on the use of the private jet, as well as their discussion on the travel ban affecting the chief executives of state institutions and board members.
