An Accra Circuit Court has granted the Managing Director of Ali PVT Ghana Limited, Saif Ahamad, bail of GH¢150,000 with two sureties for allegedly issuing five dud cheques valued at GH¢600,000. 

Ahamad, 27, denied issuing the cheques. 

Madam Basilia Adjei-Tawiah, the presiding judge, ordered that one of the sureties be justified with either landed or movable property, while the other should be a salaried worker earning at least GH¢3,000. 

The Court also directed Ahamad to deposit his passport with the Court’s Registry and report every Tuesday between 0700 and 1400 hours to the Police investigator handling the case. 

The case has been adjourned to October 20, 2026, with the prosecution directed to prepare disclosures for a possible Case Management Conference. 

Counsel for Ahamad, in praying for bail, said his client was innocent of the alleged misdemeanour, was not a flight risk and would avail himself to the Court to contest the case and clear his name. 

He said Ahamad had been on police enquiry bail before appearing in Court. 

Police Chief Inspector Daniel Appiah Ofori, who held brief for Deputy Superintendent of Police Kesse, told the Court that the complainant, Yahaya Umar Mohammed, was a Sales Manager of Parthagyl Ghana Limited, a company engaged in the supply of rice products. 

He said Ahamad was responsible for the management and operations of Ali PVT Ghana Limited at Haatso. 

The prosecution said between 2024 and 2025, Parthagyl Ghana Limited supplied various quantities of rice products to Ali PVT Ghana Limited valued at approximately GH¢7,049,340. 

The Court heard that on June 11, 2026, the complainant contacted Ahamad over the outstanding debt. 

Subsequently, Ahamad, acting on behalf of Ali PVT Ghana Limited, issued five cheques numbered 000189, 000190, 000191, 000192 and 000193 to the complainant in settlement of the debt. 

The prosecution said the cheques were presented for payment through OmniBSIC Bank but were dishonoured and returned unpaid due to insufficient funds in the account. 

The complainant subsequently reported the matter to the Manet Police Station, leading to Ahamad’s arrest. 

He was cautioned and, after investigations, charged with the appropriate offence and brought before the Court.
