The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) will from next year introduce an electronic payment system.
This is to ensure claims which hitherto were submitted manually are done electronically to eliminate the challenges.
Director of Communications at the NHIA, Serlom Adonoo said the electronic payment system will also help check corruption under the National Health Insurance Scheme.
According to him, the software is designed a way that human intervention is limited.
Serlom Adonoo noted that service providers will be paid on time because claim processing turnaround time will be shorter.
He added that the NHIA will also have enough data to track service providers and to take effective decisions.
