CAF President Motsepe has reiterated his outfit's commitment towards fairness and equality in all matters involving member associations.
Motsepe's comments were made in response to allegations of corruption and favouritism, after its Appeals Board stripped Senegal of the AFCON 2025 title following an appeal by Morocco.
"No single African country will be treated in a manner that is preferential or advantageous or more favorable than any other country on the African continent."
On Tuesday, March 17, 2026, CAF announced it had upheld Morocco's appeal to strip Senegal of the title they won January, in an unprecedented ruling.
According to the board, Senegal breached its tournament rules when its players walked off the pitch, delaying the final by 17-minute walk-off by Senegal during the final, after Morocco had been awarded a stoppage-time penalty.
The Board subsequently declared Morocco as winners by a 3-0 scoreline.
Morocco's appeal was in response to a January 28, 2026 ruling by CAF's Disciplinary Board, rejecting Morocco's to be declared as champions despite losing the final.
Senegal have announced their intention to contest the Appeals Board decision at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
