The Member of Parliament for the Ningo-Prampram Constituency, Sam George has said that both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) governments have failed the creative industry.
The MP was speaking at the 2022 edition of the Samini Xperience on the inputs of successive governments in the entertainment industry.
“Honestly NPP and NDC, we failed. We have failed the creatives. We need to find a way for the government to put resources into productions like this (Samini Xperience) and take our music outside of Ghana and make money, we need to do this," Mr George said.
He added that, "I believe the next NDC government will focus on this, that’s one of the things we are trying to do with Baba Sadiq (former 3Music CEO) and Rex Omar (GHAMRO) and work with creatives to really put Ghana music and our creative arts on the top scale."
The MP who was thrilled by the performances he witnessed at the Samini Xperience, called on the general public to support Ghanaian music.
“Our music is beautiful, let’s support Ghana music," he urged.
