Kwesi Nyantakyi, by general consensus, has been elected as the President of the Zone B bloc of the West African Football Union (Wafu).
The decision to select the Ghana Football Association President to head Zone B was taken in Accra on Saturday at sub-regional football body's Extraordinary Congress.
Nyantakyi would be assisted in Zone B by Theodore Sawadogo (Burkina Faso), Aminu Maigari (Nigeria) and Col. Himan Djibrilla of Niger serving as the 1st, 2nd and 3rd vice president’s respectively.
The Congress also fashioned out statutes to govern both the Zone A and B blocs.
The division is in accordance with a Caf Executive Committee directive passed in May to have the old WAFU transformed into two sub-regional bodies.
Nyantakyi prior to Saturday's Congress headed Zone B in an interim capacity as Caf reviewed the regional bodies.
Senegal’s Augustine Senghor was elected the President of Zone A with Jose Lobato (Guinea Bissau), Musa Hassan Bility (Liberia) and Hamadun Cisse Kolado (Mali) serving as the 1st, 2nd and 3rd vice president’s respectively.
Banjul, Gambia and Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire has been chosen as headquarters of Zone A and Zone B secretariats respectively.
