Upon reaching a section of the road at Donkor Spot, the driver who was speeding lost control of the steering wheel when he was negotiating a curve and knocked down a lady and a gentleman who were standing by the edge of the road.
The vehicle subsequently rammed into a metal container by the Akora bridge and finally plunged into the river.
The occupants of the car were able to swim ashore, however, the gentleman who was knocked down by the speding car, a 23-year-old died on the spot and his body has been deposited at the morgue.
His counterpart, the female, who also fell into the river has not been found since.
The accident vehicle has been removed from the site and has been impounded by the Police for further examination.
Local NADMO Authorities say they are in search of the woman, and no relatives have come forward to announce a missing relative.
Meanwhile, residents say rituals will be performed at the Akora river to get the lady out.
