The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has accused private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu of repeatedly disrespecting its security officers, following his release from custody on Wednesday, December 3.
In a detailed clarification issued by the Director of Strategy, Research and Communications (SRC), Sammy Darko, the OSP said the latest confrontation was consistent with a pattern in which Mr Kpebu “misrepresents the facts” after clashing with officers.
“This is not the first—or even the second—time Mr Kpebu has acted improperly toward OSP security personnel in the discharge of their lawful duties,” Mr Darko stated.
The OSP rejected claims that the arrest was linked to the ongoing inquiry into allegations of corruption made by Mr Kpebu.
“The confrontation at the OSP has nothing to do with the inquiry into the unsubstantiated allegations he made against the SP and the Office,” the clarification noted.
According to the OSP, Mr Kpebu was arrested after he allegedly insulted security guards and obstructed them from performing their duties. The office insists that no force or assault occurred during the arrest.
“He was informed of his arrest in accordance with the law. There is no internal record of any assault or mistreatment,” the SRC Director emphasised.
Mr Kpebu is expected to report again at 11 a.m. today for further investigations.
