More than 5,300 trained teachers from Colleges of Education have had their National Service registration put on hold due to their institutions’ expired accreditation status.
According to a statement signed by the Director-General of the National Service Authority, Felix Gyamfi, and released on February 14, 2025, out of 9,082 trained teachers successfully uploaded into the system for the 2025/2026 service year, 5,336 come from institutions whose accreditation has expired.

As a result, they will not be able to proceed with the registration process until their institutions resolve the issue with the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).
The statement further revealed that out of the 36 Colleges of Education that submitted a total of 16,159 trained teachers for upload, only 14 institutions currently have active accreditation with GTEC, while the remaining 22 institutions have expired accreditation.
The NSA added that 7,077 trained teachers are yet to be processed, as their respective institutions have not provided the required cover letters.
