Hi-Life great, Paapa Yankson has promised to bring to bear a 40-year history and experience in hi-life music at this year’s Joy FM Hi-Life Dance Party scheduled for The Place at the Trade Fair Centre Friday. The legendary composer and singer is among three other gems, Nana Tuffour, A. B. Crentsil and Ofori Amponsah, - tagged the Big Four - who have been billed to rekindle the good old days in a unique style on a perfect day- Farmer’s Day which is a statutory holiday. Paapa Yankson who was speaking on the Super Morning Show with Kojo Oppong Nkrumah said all his songs are inspirational and God sent – that inspiration comes in the form of a message – which he later develops into a song. To him, the overwhelming bit of every performance is when people hail him. He said “like a footballer, if the spectators hail you, the more you play, it gingers you.” With about 25 albums to his credit, Paapa Yankson entreated patrons to troop to the venue in their numbers promising them to expect the best from him. He said, he is willing to perform as many songs as they wished from his countless number of hit tracks. Born June 22, 1944 at Winneba, Paapa is still that young man you once knew on stage. He does not grow with age and exerts superior energy on stage when he is called upon. His name is very synonymous with popular tunes such as Tena Me Nkyen which features the lively Paulina Oduro, Okukuseku, Show Your Love, Won Hye Yen Ase and the evergreen Adjoa Yankee. These tunes and more Paapa Yankson has promised to perform at the event. The other acts for the night, Nana Tuffour (popularly referred to as 9924), A. B. Crentsil and Ofori Amponsah are equally masters of this genre. They have over the years individually served Ghanaians with a wide array of lively hi-life hits spicing up their moods and events. The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) Director of Hi-Life music, Nana Tuffour is no easy customer when it comes to Hi-Life. Songs such as Da Maabi, Down On My Knees, Odo Kakra, Sika Kakra and Abeiku can attest to that. The ladies can also affirm that, 9924 is ‘stylishly naughty’ always touching them at the right spots.
