Tuesday at the Marriot Hotel in Accra, two fierce rivals smiled and laughed. They held hands and hugged as if they’ve been the best of friends.
Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale, to the delight of many, got comfy as if they were brothers.
Barely a month ago before Tuesday, on May 18 to be precise, the never-ending beef between Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale resulted in a brawl at the 20th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
That brawl resulted in the two very influential artistes, whose fan base runs into the millions, getting arrested by the police on May 19 and subsequently appearing before the court.
At the Marriot Hotel, the two appeared in public together to hold a press conference to announce a truce and also a peace concert.
Before the press conference, they had shared photos last Wednesday that indicated that they had met to smoke the peace pipe.
At Tuesday’s press conference, sitting side by side, the two award-winning acts made known that they have decided to put the past behind them.
“For us to get to this point, we had to try a number of times, Stonebwoy said noting that there is a willingness to see peace regardless of who causes their beef.
“It is only as humans to keep trying” the Bhim Nation boss, Stonebwoy noted and quizzed “Unhealthy rivalry what has that gained us?”
With concerns that this will not be the first that they are quashing their beef for peace and that it may not last, Stonebwoy assured that, “we will always keep trying when we fall.”

Shatta Wale on his part called on the media to help them cement the peace between them.
“You people are the people we need more to grow this…just try and get us there,” he urged and begged that the media should not fuel the revelry.
They assured that they will hold each other’s hand when they are falling with Shatta Wale, in his jovial nature, professing that he gave Stonebwoy a Jesus kiss and he wouldn’t mind giving him an Abraham kiss to prove that they are united now.
Touching on the possibility of joining the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards’ scheme should Charterhouse, organisers of the Awards, rescind the ban placed on them, Stonebwoy said they are open possibilities.
According to him, they are willing to work with whoever is willing to work with them.
