The Lesedi Cultural Village is a popular tourist village that celebrates the cultural traditions of several different peoples of Southern Africa.
It is a must visit place for any tourist who wants to really experience South Africa’s cultural diversity and beauty.

The Lesedi Cultural Village reproduces traditional dwellings and offers demonstrations of dances and other cultural activities including music, clothes and food.
Less than an hour drive from Johannesburg, the Lesedi Cultural Village offers visitors a chance to encounter the people of Zulu, Xhosa, Pedi, Ndebele and Basotho origin and how they lived. Situated within the Cradle of Humankind, in Gauteng, the Lesedi Cultural Village is the melting pot of different cultures from a variety of countries including South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

A delegation of Ghanaian and Nigerian tourism services providers of this year’s South African Tourism Specialist Hosting lined up for activities while visiting a cultural village.
The delegation of 26, made up of tourism agency owners, tourism service providers and media personnel, had an eye-opening experience of the cultural diversity of South Africa at the village.
At the village, the delegation was taken on a tour of a typical Zulu village and some of their cultural practices – including marriage and kitchen.

After the tour, the team converged at the main hall for traditional dances from different cultures and countries in Southern Africa.
Some of the dance routines that were displayed included:
Indlamu Dance
Indlamu dance is popularly known as African Zulu dance. The dance is also known as Zulu war dance and is one of the main attractions of a Zulu wedding.
In this dance form, the dancers lift their legs to the height of their head and bang them down hard against the ground.
Warrior Dance
The warrior dance is a typical south African dance form that is a fusion of warfare movements and artistic movements of the body. This dance form consists of many aggressive movements like “stabbing” with drum beats.
Love Dance
The love dance is also known as the celebration dance. This type of dance is performed to celebrate different festivals and happy events like weddings, tribal rituals and anniversaries. Trained dancers perform this dance in front of other tribal members.

After enjoying these beautiful dance routines, one can settle in one of the uniquely designed Zulu houses at the Lesedi Cultural Village.
If the tourist is not planning to stay, the cultural village has a traditional restaurant where all sorts of local dishes are served.
The 26-member delegation had previously visited the Cradle of Humankind, Cradle of Humankind Museum and conquered their fears at Ama Zwing Zwing and Hartbeespoort Dam.
