Mr Philip Kofi Ntiamoah, National Financial Secretary of the Ghana Hoteliers Association (GHA), has stressed the need for improved infrastructure and better management of the Kintampo Water Falls to attract more tourists.
He has therefore appealed to the Kintampo Municipal Assembly to release the Kintampo Water Falls to the Brong-Ahafo Regional Branch of the GHA to operate and generate revenue for its development.
Mr Ntiamoah, who is also the Managing Director of Tano River Lodge Hotel at Techiman made the appeal in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) after a tour of the water falls to acquaint himself with its operations.
He said the GHA was prepared to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the appropriate stakeholders to ensure the water falls operated efficiently and effectively, to create employment for the youth.
Mr Ntiamoah called on stakeholders in the hospitality industry to make the recognition and awards for hoteliers more attractive similar to that of farmers and teachers.
He pointed out that hoteliers should be involved in the administration of the country, especially in the tourism sector, and advised all hoteliers to join the association to lift up the image of the industry.
Mr Ntiamoah called for the establishment of a Board of Directors to administer the Tourism Development Fund (TDF).
