Reggae superstar Shaggy became the latest victim of a celebrity death hoax on Wednesday following false reports suggesting he was killed in a bar fight.
Rumours began circulating online that the It Wasn't Me hitmaker had been stabbed to death in Los Angeles earlier this week and the singer's information page on online encyclopedia Wikipedia had even been updated to mark his passing, but a representative for the star has spoken out to deny the claims.
The spokesman tells Tmz.com, "I can happily report that he’s (Shaggy) alive and kicking and in the same building as me right now as we speak."
This is not the first time the Jamaican star has fallen victim to false death reports - in April last year rumours swept the Internet that the singer was dead after the phrase RIPShaggy began trending on microblogging site Twitter.com.
