The Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Clement Kofi Humado has commended Ghanaians for their sportsmanship. This was against the backdrop of the just-ended AFCON 2012 hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
The sports fiesta started on January 21st to February 12. Zambia won the tournament by beating Cote d’voire 8-7 in a two-hour duel in Libraville, Gabon.
Following the inability of Ghana to reach the finals, many people who were aggrieved made comments some of which were unsavoury.
Mr. Humado urged Ghanaians to continue to show good sportsmanship but learn to manage losses whenever they occurred.
He said the Ghana Black Stars played their best game during the match against Zambia in the semi-finals, exhibiting beautiful football, but unfortunately they lost by a lone goal.
The Minister made the comments at the Ghana Airforce Base on his return home from Equatorial Guinea. He was on the same flight with farmers who were flown to Gabon and Equatorial Guinea on a chartered flight sponsored by Wienco Gh. Ltd. to watch the quarter final and semi final matches.
He expressed delight at what Wienco had done and said it was in fulfillment of its social responsibility to the farmers. The Minister thanked Wienco for organizing and sponsoring the farmers to watch the matches.
