The Ghana Statistical Service will Friday announce the revised GDP estimates and economic growth for last year.
It will also release the final GDP figure for 2008. The revised estimate for 2008 indicates the economy grew by 7.3 percent to about 22 billion dollars.
This was however based on about 70 percent of the data needed for the computation.
The actual GDP estimate for last year remains unclear even though growth is estimated at 4.3 percent.
Government Statistician Dr. Grace Bediako meanwhile tells Joy Business they are still working on a revision of how the country’s GDP is estimated.
“There are a lot of areas that we know have expanded which we haven’t reflected fully in our calculation, which is what we are working on now.
She mentioned the communication sector, as one of those areas and believes the incorporation of the sector will affect the overall growth rate of the economy.
