Dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy was adjudged Best Dancehall Artist at the 2015 edition of the African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA).
This year’s edition of the awards, which celebrated musical talent across the African continent, was held Saturday night at the Academy of Black Letters in Dallas, Texas in the US.
Stonebwoy, who received three nominations at this year’s awards, beat fellow Ghanaian Shatta Wale, and other Africans - Timaya (Nigeria), MC Norman (Uganda), Wax Dey (Cameroon), Dr. Jose Chameleon (Uganda), Patoranking (Nigeria) and Buffalo Soldier (Zimbabwe) - to win the Best Dancehall Artist award.
The event, hosted by African Comedy King Basketmouth and East Africa comedy Queen Anne Kansiime, recognised and awarded several other musicians from Africa and around the globe for their contribution to African music.
Among the night’s biggest winners included Tanzanian artiste Diamond Platnumz who won Best Male East Africa, Afrimma Video of The Year and the biggest award of the night, African Artiste of the Year.
The ceremony witnessed exciting performances from some of the continent’s biggest acts including Davido, Kcee and Yemi Alade.
