Central Regional propaganda secretary of the NDC, Bernard Allotey Jacobs has asked Mr and Mrs Rawlings to call their spokesperson, Kofi Adams to order before he causes trouble in the party.
Mr Kofi Adams who speaks for the Rawlingses and also doubles as the Deputy General Secretary of the NDC was heavily critisised for his role in the campaign of Mrs Rawlings vis a vis his position in the party.
He was key in campaigning for Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings who challenged President John Evans Atta Mills for the flagbearership slot of the party.
Mrs Rawlings suffered a heavy defeat at the party’s congress last Saturday, polling only 90 votes compared to 2,2771 by the President.
Meanwhile the Friends of Nana Konadu Agyema-Rawlings (FONKAR) have refused to accept the results of the delegates’ congress with Kofi Adams questioning the integrity of the delegates and registering his displeasure at the conduct of the process.
Following this, some leading members of the NDC have called on Kofi Adams to resign as a deputy general secretary or be sacked by the disciplinary committee of the party.
Mr Stan Dogbe, who called for Kofi Adams’ removal on Multi TV’s Cacaus programme Tuesday, argued that Mr Adams had no business questioning the integrity of the delegates who voted at the Sunyani congress since “the same delegates elected him as Deputy General Secretary” of the NDC.
But speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo Wednesday, Mr Allotey Jacobs also gave a strong warning to Kofi Adams, asking him to desist from making divisive utterances that, according to him, could further deepen the disunity in the NDC.
“…Kofi Adams! Please stop this your nyamanyama thing, I am telling him, he should stop it. NDC is for all of us,” said the Propaganda secretary.
He pleaded with ex-President Rawlings and his wife Nana Konadu, who he referred to as the pivot around which the NDC revolvess, to restrain their aide from engaging in acts and conducts that would disintegrate the party.
Mr Jacobs admonished the former first couple to respect the will of the delegates, recalling that Mr Rawlings had in the past said he would always respect the people’s decision and positive defiance.
“When we disagree with you we will positively defy you and then come back…”
“Kofi Adams should not create that GAZA war…” in the party, Allotey concluded, insisting that the NDC must unite for a successful campaign in the 2012 elections.
