The Accra Regional Police Command has appealed to the Electricity Company of Ghana to take police installations off the current load shedding exercise.
The command said the exercise was seriously affecting the work of the police at the various stations in the region.
A release signed by Inspector Kwaku Dompreh of the Public Affairs Unit of the Accra Region also appealed to organisations to donate generators to the service to enable them to perform their duties more effectively.
It said that anytime the lights went off, police work at the various charge offices, districts and the regional headquarters virtually came to a standstill.
According to the release sometimes police personnel performing counter duties at the various stations had to use the light from their mobile phones to write complaints of people because there were no standby generators.
That situation, the release said had put the lives of the inmates at great risk because if any of them had a genuine problem during the lights out they could not be attended to for fear that they might try to escape.
"In the light of all these, we humbly appeal to the ECG to take the police off the exercise" the release added".
