Interdicted deputy head of the commercial crime unit of the Ghana police service DSP Gifty Mawunyega Tehoda is making fresh attempt to be granted bail from detention.
Her lawyers have filed an appeal at the human rights court to seek her release from BNI detention.
The cocaine swap suspect Gifty Tehoda was remanded on a charge of promoting an enterprise related to narcotics drugs by an Accra circuit court last week, less than a week after she reunited with the family following a month in detention.
She is alleged to have swapped the cocaine after her attempt to bribe the judge sitting on the case with 5,000 cedis failed.
She had been in and out of police custody in a fierce attempt by her lawyers to secure bail.
Attempts to secure her bail failed; however, her lawyers have gone to a higher court asking for bail for their client. A member of the legal team Olive Jeble told JOYNEWS he is confident she will be set free when the case is heard on Tuesday.
