Former chairman of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Herbert Kwabena Amponsah Mensah has urged Ghanaians to rally their support behind the Black Stars of Ghana and cheer them to victory in ongoing 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.
According to the President of the Ghana Rugby Football Union (GRFU), everyone should forgive and forget about what happens in Brazil and stand proud as a patriotic Ghanaian and support the 4 times Africa champions.
The Black Stars are said not enjoying the massive support they used to get some time back ahead of their AFCON 2015 opener against the Teranga Lions of Senegal.
This is as a result of their abysmal performance they displayed during the Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup when government of Ghana had to airlift over $4m to the team camp to settle appearance fees of the players because they had refused to train on 2 occasions before Ghana played against Portugal in Brasilia.
In an exclusive interview with Kwadwo Mensah Moshosho, the host of Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Morning Show on Monday, the experience football administrator advised Ghanaians to put their differences behind them and be patriotic enough to support Black Stars to victory
“I will like to say that we are Ghanaians, let us put on the shirt of Ghana because it does not matter what you feel and how you about the players and the FA”.
“This is the time we need to be patriotic and have to be proud as Ghanaians. We can have our discussions behind the scenes but for the tournament let us put on our shirt as Ghanaians; go out and support the team”. He added.
