Sod has been cut for the construction of a Community Library and Museum in Dzelukofe, Keta Municipality, Volta Region.
The initiative aims to preserve the cultural heritage of the people of Anlo and promote research in the coastal areas.
The Community Library and Museum, costing about GH¢5 million, would feature exhibition spaces, conference facilities, reading rooms, administrative spaces, and a cafeteria.

It will also provide digital resources such as online databases and digitised special collections, for research purposes, providing a distinct centre for researchers, scholars, and the general public.
It is expected to be crowd-funded by the indigenes of Keta, Ghanaian citizens, and well-wishers who deem it a worthy cause.
The Secretary to the Project Committee, Siegfried Sedziafa, disclosed that the museum has been registered as an entity, Limited by Guarantee (LBG), under the Registration of Business Names
Act with the Office of the Registrar of Companies.

He said the facility would culminate a vision to provide a centre to showcase the cultural heritage of the Anlos, by housing a “comprehensive collection of literary resources and archival materials.”
He further indicated that the Museum would “incorporate optimal lighting and weather control systems, ensuring the preservation of rare artefacts and documents.”
Mr Sedziafa entreated all and sundry to contribute to realising the vision of protecting and projecting not just the legacy of Mr Rawlings, but of the cultural heritage of the people of Anlo.
