A circuit court A at Sogakope has jailed a 66-year old petty trader, Daniel Ocloo Tetteh of Agorta-Zewukofe in the South Tongu District of the Volta Region, for nine years for defiling a 12-year old girl.
Police Sergeant, Emmanuel Atsyor told the court presided over by Emmanuel Ankamah that Tetteh, who was sentenced on his own plea, was friend to the victim’s father.
Sgt Atsyor said on Wednesday, December 20, last year, Tetteh, sent the victim's father to buy goods from a neighbouring village to re-stock his (Tetteh) shop.
Sgt Atsyor said Tetteh went to his friend's house and when he saw the 12-year old girl alone in the kitchen cooking; he forcibly had sex with her.
He said when the victim's father returned from the trip, he saw Atsyor in the kitchen dressing up.
The case was reported to the police after the girl narrated her ordeal to the father.
Mr. Atsyor said a medical report from the Sogakope Hospital revealed that the girl’s hymen has been broken.
