Tullow Ghana Limited has officially handed over a fully furnished 180-bed girls' dormitory block to Methodist Senior High School (MESEC) in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.
The new facility includes essential utilities, beds, a box room, a sustainable water supply system, modern toilets, bathrooms, an ironing area, a visitors/common room, a veranda, a spacious compound, and a fully furnished bungalow for the housemistress to enhance supervision and discipline.

This project is part of Tullow Ghana Ltd’s $10-million initiative to support the government's efforts to improve educational infrastructure as part of the free senior high school policy.
Schools that have already benefited include Nsein SHS, Axim Girls SHS, Sankor SHS, Bonzo-Kaku SHS, Kikam Technical, Takoradi SHS, Annor Adjaye SHS, and Nsutaman SHS. Additional schools, including Bompe SHS and Shama SHS, will soon receive similar facilities.

In other parts of the country, Nyong Technical Institute in the Northern Region will benefit from a multipurpose workshop block with fully furnished apartments for electrical, welding, catering, tailoring, and woodwork.
At the handover ceremony at Kansaworodu, Tullow Ghana’s Deputy Managing Director, Ms. Cynthia Lumor, per an address read on her behalf by Edmond Fiifi Enchill, Social Performance Manager of Tullow Ghana, emphasised the company's commitment to Ghana’s socio-economic development.
She said "For an organisation like Tullow Ghana—with a direct stake in this country’s socio-economic development—we see platforms like this as opportunities to extend and entrench our commitment to the local communities where we live and work."

Ms. Lumor highlighted the global importance of education and noted that Tullow’s work in the country is connected to a shared prosperity agenda aimed at improving the livelihoods and quality of life in the communities where the company operates.
“This is very important because it means that our interventions are able to generate and develop better livelihoods and quality of life for the local communities,” she added.
Reflecting on Tullow’s commitment to education, she recalled that in 2019, the company pledged to invest $10 million over five years to support quality education in Ghana by constructing infrastructure for 15 senior high schools. So far, the commitment has resulted in the building and commissioning of 12 dormitory, classroom, and workshop blocks across the Western, Ashanti, and Northern regions.

“These buildings have the capacity to accommodate more than 500 students at any given time, solving a key accommodation gap in our nation’s second-cycle education,” Ms. Lumor noted.
She expressed her delight at commissioning the latest dormitory block, which will benefit over 180 girls in the Kansaworodu community.
Madam Grace Eshun, Headmistress of Methodist Senior High School, expressed gratitude for the new facility, assuring that "the facility will be well maintained."
The acting President of the Sekondi Traditional Council, Nana Barima Ekow Gyesa II, encouraged beneficiaries to keep the facility clean, praising Tullow Ghana for its prompt response and ongoing support.
The ceremony was attended by officials from the Ghana Education Service, the Methodist Church, Tullow Ghana, assembly members, and parents.
