Through Bridge54, Tyobista Girma is reviving Africa’s Pan African dream, not only by moving people across borders but by building experiences and opportunities that connect nations.
Her September project brought Ghana’s BlacVolta team and Ghanaian travelers to Ethiopia, where she curated an experience that was equal parts cultural immersion and economic diplomacy.
From raw meat tastings and the iconic Lucy exhibit at the National Museum to a rare palace tour in traditional kaba, a ceremonial garment that drew admiration from Ethiopian hosts, Tyobista positioned her guests not just as visitors but as participants in Ethiopia’s story.
She also organized the signature BlacVolta Creator and Creative Mixer in Ethiopia with YouTube star Wode Maya as keynote speaker, bringing together Ghanaian and Ethiopian creators in one room. This gathering sparked conversations about collaboration, visibility, and cross-continent storytelling, laying the foundation for future projects that go beyond social media trends to lasting creative partnerships.
Adding a commercial dimension, Tyobista carried products from Ghanaian brands to showcase in Addis. This symbolic gesture reflected her broader mission: to introduce Ghana’s creative economy to new markets and ignite trade opportunities between countries that share historical bonds but often lack structured economic exchange. In doing so, she framed culture not as an end in itself but as a pathway to investment, commerce, and innovation.
Looking forward, Tyobista is preparing for Ethiopia Day in Ghana and Ghana Day in Ethiopia, alongside more creator and traveler exchanges that will spotlight the best of each country while attracting policymakers and investors.
For her, these events are not one-off experiences but part of a long-term strategy to build sustainable cultural and economic bridges.
Under her leadership, Bridge54 is becoming more than a venture. It is evolving into a Pan African movement rooted in cultural pride, creative collaboration, and economic opportunity. By blending tradition with modernity and diplomacy with entrepreneurship, Tyobista Girma is not just connecting Ghana and Ethiopia. She is charting a blueprint for how Africa can connect with itself.
