UK higher institution alumni are making meaningful impact to the socio-economic development of Ghana.
That is according to preliminary findings in a post-study research project led by the British Council and Konfidants.
The aim of the project is to understand the factors and motivations that inform post-study engagements of Ghanaians who have studied in a UK Higher Education Institution.
The project will also assist the British Council with knowledge on formulating a robust system to support Alumni to further enhance their contribution to national development.
Speaking to Joy Business at an Alumni Roundtable and Networking session at the British Council, Naomi Baffour Gyau, a research and project associate at Kofidants, noted that "The feedback we (Konfidant) are getting so far is that the UK education is really making a good impact in Ghana as people are applying their knowledge in various fields."
"Those in business are applying critical thinking while those in the educational sectors are engaging more with their students to implement the good things they learnt from their studies to make education much easier", she added.
Each year, Ghanaians embark on study at a higher education institution in the United Kingdom, which has historically been a popular destination for Ghanaians. Hence the need to conduct an inquiry into the impact of UK Education on the economy.
The project when completed will see publication of a comprehensive report which will be outdored at a research dissemination event.
The second and concluding half of the programme was a networking cocktail, where all attendees had the chance to share ideas and connect with each other.
