Unknown armed men have attacked and set ablaze a Kia Rhino truck in Walewale on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.
The truck, loaded with bags of vegetables and en route from Mognori in the Bawku Municipality to Kumasi, was attacked in the North East Region.
The incident has prompted heightened security activity in the area, with military personnel patrolling Walewale township in response to the attack.
The truck attack occurred amid President John Dramani Mahama’s visit to Bawku and Nalerigu, where he is addressing the ongoing chieftaincy conflicts in the region.
Such incidents have become increasingly frequent along the Bolgatanga-Tamale highway, fueled by prolonged ethnic and chieftaincy disputes in the North East Region.
