Actress Chioma Akpotha has revealed she feels the need to give back to society by telling compelling stories her way.
She told Mamavi Aboagye on the AM Show on Joy News that not every producer would be willing to tell the stories she wanted to share with the world hence the decision to also engage in movie production.
“I have gained a lot of knowledge in my nearly 20 years of film. I have the desire to practice what I have learnt over the years and to know what it feels like wearing other caps,” Chioma Akpotha added.
As a filmmaker, Chioma Akpotha has produced and co-produced over eight movies including the award-nominated blockbuster ‘On Bended Knees’.
‘Cry of the Dead’, ‘Choked’, ‘Bird Watcher’, ‘For Want Of A Queen’, ‘In Your Dreams’, ‘Rain of Love’ and ‘Dark Cloud ‘are some other movies the actress has production credits to.
The actress in January 2019, launched a platform dubbed Masterclass with Chioma where aspiring seasoned filmmakers, screenwriters and other industry professionals educate aspiring actors on TV and film.
She told Mamavi Aboagye she believes the youth has a lot to offer despite the challenges they faced with from the economy especially, hence her dedication to helping the youth however she can.
Chioma Akpotha is in Ghana for the 2019 International Youth Summit (IYES).

The Africa Movie Academy ‘Best Actress in a Leading Role’ will join other guests at the National Theatre from August 21 - 23 to address both Ghanaian youths and their counterparts across the world.
