Popular highlife artiste, now Evangelist Papa Shee, has revealed he went through trials for 10 years.
The ‘Koyon So’ singer says he struggled for years before accepting the call of God because he was at the peak of his career when God beckoned.
“After the ‘Atadwe,’ ‘Koyon So’ then ‘East Coast’ album, I left to the United States to try to promote my songs and I was running away from my calling. I was a churchgoer so when I go to some of the churches, some good pastors told me I had the call but I didn’t want to hear that,” he said.
Papa Shee also disclosed that he had to disembark from a flight because God revealed to him, it will clash should he embark on the journey.
He narrated to MzGee how he eventually surrendered to the Lord.
“We had a show in London, myself, Reggie, Nana Quame, Obrafour, Tic Tac and VIP but the Lord opened my eyes at Kotoka International Airport to get down from the plane otherwise the plane will crash…so I said Lord reveal yourself to me and the Lord opened my eyes and I got out of the plane,” the former highlife musician said.
He conceded that the journey has not been rosy. He added that he had endured rejection, mockery and persecution.
“If you go in physically you will run because it is not easy, your fan will feel disappointed and the believers, they don’t trust you.”
“I have been into the wilderness for 10 years. Wilderness means you are going through trials, I was preaching, doing evangelism but I was still in the wilderness,” he said.
“Falling doesn’t mean you’ve sin but sometimes doubting God, you may say is that the same Lord who revealed himself to me, Lord, where are you that everybody has abandoned me, Lord where are you that nobody loves me as they used to say?”
