Ghana head coach Otto Addo has expressed confidence in his side’s readiness as the Black Stars prepare to face the Central African Republic (CAR) in their penultimate 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixture on Wednesday at the Stade d’Honneur de Meknès in Morocco.
Speaking to the press, Addo said the team has had “two and a half good sessions” and looked sharp ahead of the crucial encounter. Ghana lead Group I with 19 points, three clear of Madagascar and four ahead of Comoros, their final opponent on October 12.
“We are in a comfortable position that we can look at ourselves and we want to win this game,” Addo said.
“If we win this game, we have a high probability to qualify for the World Cup. But this is just the first step.”
The coach stressed the importance of maintaining concentration until the final whistle, referencing lessons learned from their narrow win over Chad.
“We have to fight defensively, especially to the last minute. I have a very good feeling that we can keep a clean sheet and score one or two goals.”
Addo also downplayed talk of becoming the first Ghanaian coach to qualify for two World Cups. “I don’t think too much about myself; it’s about the team. We want to win this game tomorrow and then we’ll see.”
