Yorktown FC forward Lanzari Abdulai has departed Ghana for Portugal to undergo trials with Atletico Clube Alcanenense.
The 23-year-old attacker, widely regarded as one of the most promising players in the Central Region Division Two League, will be assessed by the Portuguese side in the coming weeks as he seeks to secure his first professional contract in Europe.
Abdulai has been in impressive form for Yorktown FC, scoring 12 goals in 20 appearances in the just-ended league season. His performances have not only attracted attention from scouts abroad but also from several Ghana Premier League clubs.
The prolific striker was discovered at Teshie MacDan Park, where he was spotted during community football matches by Yorktown FC’s Chief Executive and President, Aruna Abdu, who subsequently signed him for the Central Region-based club.
Known for his pace, strength and sharp eye for goal, Abdulai has developed into a key figure for Yorktown FC and is expected to showcase his talent and adaptability during his stint with Alcanenense.
His potential move forms part of Yorktown FC’s growing reputation as a breeding ground for young talent with ambitions of breaking onto the European stage.
