Over 1,000 junior staff of Golden Star Resources at the Bogoso Mine have begun an indefinite strike to back demands for the dismissal of the General Manager.
The workers started the action yesterday after disagreements over payments of bonuses for last year.
Chairman of the Senior Staff Union, Abraham Yalley is worried gold production has been suspended as a result.
He urged urgent steps to resolve the impasse saying any delays will have serious repercussions for the company.
According to him, virtually everything had to come to a standstill, a situation he said is disturbing.
Mr Yalley maintained that it is better to produce while negotiating a solution to the problem than to embark on an industrial action.
