The 2012/2013 Cal Bank Beach Soccer League bounces back this weekend, 16th March 2013, at the La Beach Soccer arena after a 2 month hiatus.
The stakes on Match day 5 could not be any higher as the resolve of three unbeaten sides in the championship, Wuo Gb33, Sunset Sports and Ada Assurance would be tested.
The biggest game of the day sees title challengers Wuo Gb33 face-off against last season’s runners-up Havedji Mighty Warriors. Anything short of three points from this encounter for Havedzi would heavily dent their title ambitions.
However Coach Adam's Wuo Gb33 are eyeing the top spot and would be buoyed to win this game, making for a cracking encounter.
Defending champions Keta Sunset Sports come into match day 5 as wounded lions after dropping 2 points against Dansoman on the last match day.
Coach Reuben Adjao and his charges felt hard done in by the officials and would need to put on an absolute performance to vindicate themselves against debutants Teshie United. The struggling Teshie side might pose a bit of threat as they broke their points duck in the Championship against Nungua United on match day 4.
New top four entrants Tegbi Youth attempt to prolong their stay at the top against a resurgent Layoca Side. Tegbi Youth have had a quite campaign littered with some good results and Layoca would have to be at their very best to pull off a win. Both teams will need all three points on offer to further their claims of silverware and survival respectively.
In other Championship games, the inform Ada Assurance who currently trail League Leaders by 2 points would have their unbeaten record on the line once more when they face bottom side Nungua United who are yet to pick up a win so far this season. Ada assurance would view this as the best chance to go top as League leaders since Wuo gb33 and Sunset Sports face tricky away duels.
In division one, a win for Senya sharks could move them into the top four of the log but they come up against the very strong Cape Coast Warriors who are making their debut appearance in the beach soccer league.
They currently lie sixth on the table and the worrying statistic for Senya is the fact that the Warriors have scored as much goals as they have conceded. Cape Coast in turn could be level on points with leaders Gulf Powers if they pick maximum points.
League leaders Gulf Powers would take on lowly Winneba Giants who have just a win to their credit. The bookmakers would be cautiously accurate in declaring the free flowing Powers favorites in this encounter but never rule out an upset by the under dogs.
Elsewhere, Osu Dolphins who failed to show up in the last match day would hope to make amends in a respectable fashion by beating the high flying Nima bsc who handed a bit of a footballing lesson to Winneba Giants, putting seven past them last December. Nima would be eyeing a move into the top four while Osu dolphins are still in search of their first point of the season.
In other games, second placed Tema United would play bottom placed Golden Eagles. The Eagles have failed to soar so far, losing all four games and conceding 19 goals in the process and there seems to be no hope for comfort when they face the might of Tema United.
Chorkor Blue Whales would be plotting a bounce back after losing on match day 4 but that would need the approval of the lethal African Angels who are on a two match unbeaten streak.
The whales are surprisingly just a point clear of relegation despite their impressive displays earlier in the season and need a result from this fixture to turn around their season.
