Ghana got its campaign at the 2013 African Youth Championships to the worst possible start with a 2-1 defeat to Egypt on Saturday.A late striker from the spot by Saleh Goma handed the Young Pharaohs all three points at stake. The Black Satellites fell behind in the 66th minute with a flicked header off a free kick by Hamad Mahmoud.Sellas Tetteh’s team however restored parity six minutes later with a volleyed-in effort from Ebenezer Assifuah. The Ghana team was however punished for leaving spaces at the back late in pursuit of the winner.A swift move by the Egyptians saw goalkeeper Eric Ofori Antwi giving away a penalty four minutes from time.Gomaa stepped up and converted – sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.The win now puts Egypt on top of Group A with Ghana confined to the bottom following the goalless draw game between hosts Algeria and Benin in the group’s opening fixture.
