The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has cautioned the Ghana 2008 Local Organising Committee (LOC) to avoid any changes in key positions at this crucial period of preparations towards hosting of the 26th MTN African Nations Cup.
A letter addressed to the LOC on November 9 and signed by the General Secretary of CAF, Mustapha Fahmy, said "it had come to our attention that there could be a proposal for changing the senior personnel of the LOC. We trust that there is no truth in this matter as CAF will be seriously concerned if there was to be any key person just prior to the start of the competition."
The letter acknowledged receipt of the LOC's proposal on the rates for the tournament and accordingly advised it to compare them with those of international matches played locally to make it more affordable for the people.
"We have examined your proposal and having compared it with previous ACN's, we are concerned that the level of prices may prove to be excessive. It is imperative for CAF that ACN is accessible to the populace of our continent and fear that the proposed prices may result in matches being played in nearly empty stadia," it stressed.
It urged the LOC to reconsider the proposed level of prices and submit to CAF the revised rates by November 20, 2007.
The letter wished the "LOC an excellent preparation for the hosting of what it described as the most important event of African football.
