Ghana‘s Black Stars have been drawn against the Hawks of Togo for this weekend’s four nation tournament slated for the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium.
The Stars will engage the Togolese on Sunday, November 18 at the renovated national stadium of the four – day championships dubbed; “Zenith Bank Four Nation International Tournament.”
Benin and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) complete the quartet for the competition expected to provide the platform to test the Stars’ readiness for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The two sides will open the $1 million tournament on Saturday, November 18.
Fred Pappoe, Vice President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) said on Tuesday that the visiting teams are expected in town by Thursday.
He explained that the GFA is footing the airfare, accommodation and other expenses relating to the tournament.
Mr Pappoe, who is also the Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee also announced that the winner of the championships will part with $70,000 with the runners-up taking home $50,000.
“The third and fourth placed team will each receive $40,000 and $30,000 respectively.”
The GFA Vice gave the assurance that all the participating teams would parade their strongest squads to bring out the best to make the competition attractive.
The event has Zenith Bank as the headline sponsor and supported by Gold Field Ghana Limited, Mobile Telecommunications Network (MTN), Ghana Textiles Printing (GTP) and Afrisat Limited.
The four-day tourney will end on Wednesday, November 21, 2007.
