The North Tongu District Assembly has announced the commencement of a construction of a modern-business and market complex for the people of Juapong.

 According to the, the business complex, (a multi-million cedi project) is aimed at solving the many issues faced by the people, especially security.

Mr Richard Collins Arku made the announcement at the inauguration of the Juapong Market Traders Association and said that the complex would coe equipped with 50 stores and warehouses.

According to the DCE , the construction of the market will bring a big relief to the people of the area as well the traders from other towns and districts who sell the wares at Juapong but have difficulties in doing their businesses due to some issues like security.

Arku assured traders that the government is committed in making sure that their needs are always provided to make life comfortable for them and their families.

The DCE also said that 20 street lights would be installed in the market to boost evening and night trading. He also said there is an arrangement to have uniformed men guard the market, specifically in the evenings to prevent theft and robbery

“I have discussed with the police to have a district command office in Juapong to protect lives and properties in the town and the market as well,” Mr Arku said.

He also promised to help the traders with the provision of the MASLOCK loans to boost their businesses

The assemblywoman for the area,Grace Duagbor, commended the DCE for his efforts at making life comfortable for the peopleand emphasized that explicit attention be made towards security.

Market women for some time now have complained that robbers deprive them of their livelihood by stealing their daily sales.

The situation is affecting trading activities at the market since traders now prefer to stay away from the Juapong Market, relocating to other trading centres due to the absence of security at the market.

he market women say their fears are further heightened by the absence of proper lightening at the market, increasing their vulnerability to robbery attacks in the evening.

The market come with a 30-seater toilet space with solar power borehole that will cost an estimated GH¢1,000,000.
