Members of Parliament (MPs) have been contributing to a statement on the 50 anniversary of the African Union (AU) with a call on all pan-African Parliament to adopt a single African language to promote cohesion.Joy News’ Elton John Brobbey who was in Parliament said MP for Subin, Mr Isaac Osei read a statement to commemorate the 50th Anniversary celebrations of the AU.He said members contributing to the statement thought the continent has gotten to the stage where Africans must act as one people.MP for Asawase Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, according to Brobbey's report, thought the use of English, French and Spanish as the main languages in the Pan-African Parliament defeats the purpose of the an African unity.Mr Muntaka said Africa must adopt the use of one language in the Pan-African Parliament.This proposition went down well with Parliamentarians from both sides of the House.The Pan-African Parliament (PAP), also known as the African Parliament, is the legislative body of the African Union.The seat of the Pan-African Parliament was in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia but it has now been moved to Midrand, South Africa.
