Real Tamale United (RTU) recorded their first away win in the four-week old Premiership after they defeated Accra Great Olympics 1-0 in their game played at the El-Wak Stadium, Accra on Sunday.
The lone goal, masterminded by back-to-batan Shilla Alhassan came three minutes away from the end of proceedings to become the only bright spot of the day after a rather lousy performance by both sides.
Alhassan’s goal initiated by Yahaya Gaani came against the run of play when the latter raced from his final third after surviving an Olympics invasion, to send a pass to the far side, and was on target to receive the ball before picking the former Asante Kotoko player with a neat cross.
Alhassan then towered above the defence of the host to send a glancing header that kissed the roof of the net.
Olympics, chasing a first victory in their four outings were just an ordinary side, compelling their scanty supporters who thronged the arena to clash with the security detail at the stadium in their bid to “discipline” the players and technical team after the game.
The goal prompted Olympics to fight in each of the equaliser but their effort proved futile as last year’s Premiership top scorer, Emmanuel Clottey and his pears remained wasteful in front of goal to end proceedings in favour of the “The Pride of the North”.
