Emotions are on the rise, health of people are at stake and residents of Teshie are already fed up with constant empty promises of leaders to get the Ledzokuku Krowor Municipal Assembly (Lekma) road fixed.
Speaking on the Super Morning Show on Joy FM, Thursday, a resident Seth, said that he and other residents are willing to withhold their votes in 2020 if the road is not fixed by December.

He explained that although they have been calling out to governments, none of them (former or present) seems to hear their cry.
“In 2016 we had a meeting with the Ministry of Roads and Highways and presented a lot of projects including this but we have come to a realisation that they are not prepared to help us solve our problem,” he added.
Drivers have had to deal with faulty cars, Lekma hospital sits and collects dust, respiratory infections in Teshie on the high, while pregnant women are scared to pick cars so they walk to the hospital – and all these scenarios have one thing in common, the poor nature of the Lekma road.

This 7.5km road which connects Teshie Lascala, Agblizaa and Manet estate through to Spintex, remains the single most distressful lack within the Teshie communities ranked the eighth-largest metropolitan centre in Ghana.
Residents have to deal with inhaling dust all day
The residents are accusing the Akufo-Addo led government of failing to honour a promise to them to fix the roads when voted into office.

“They should not bring any ballot box here if it’s not fixed by end of the year. Teshie is not a village, it is an urban city so the Lekma road is used not only by residents but also people from Nungua, East Legon and others,” Seth stated.
Other residents who spoke to Joy News’ Kojo Yankson and Emefa Apawu said they are tired of the empty promises and no longer pleading but demanding the Lekma road gets fixed.
“It is their responsibility to see the road is fixed so if they are not fixing them, we would just vote them out,” one resident told Kojo Yankson.
