Appeals Court judge, Justice Gertrude Torkornoo will Tuesday face the Appointments Committee of Parliament for her vetting as a Supreme Court judge.
Justice Torkornoo, together with Justice Mariama Owusu and Justice Avril Lovelace-Johnson were nominated by the President last month, to replace retiring Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo, Vida Akoto Bamfo and Sophia Adinyira at the end of this year.
On Monday, the Committee vetted Mariama Owusu and Avril Lovelace-Johnson on their knowledge in their field of work, their preparedness for their new role and general take on laws governing the country.
But Torkornoo will also face queries from all 26 members of the Committee, including series of questions from the ranking member, Haruna Iddrisu and deputy ranking member, Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak.
Before her move to the Court of Appeal, Justice Gertrude Torkornoo was appointed to the high court in 2004.
She specialized in business law and construction law and was instrumental in the setting up of Fugar and Co. law firm.
