The Appointments Committee of Parliament is vetting Appeals Court judge, Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, following her elevation to the bench of the Supreme Court.
Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, together with Justice Mariama Owusu and Justice Avril Lovelace-Johnson were nominated by the President, Nana Akufo-Addo last month, to replace Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo, Justice Vida Akoto Bamfo and Justice Sophia Adinyira who are due for retirement by close of the year.
On Monday, December 9, the Committee vetted Justice Mariama Owusu and Justice Avril Lovelace-Johnson on their knowledge in their field, their preparedness for their new role and their opinions on laws governing the country.
