The management of Swedru-based Second Division side, Amanpong FC has embarked on the sponsorship of the education of the players with six of them currently at the Agona Kwanyako Senior High School whilst the younger ones are attending Junior High schools at Swedru.
Some of the players who are interested in learning trades have been seconded to workshops to become self-reliant.
Mr Edmond Amankwa, Chairman of Amanpong Football Club said this at an end of the year get–together organized by the management of the Club for the players and their family members at Agona Swedru.
A number of hardworking players and some individuals were presented certificates for their meritorious services to the development of the Club in the previous years.
He asked the management and technical handlers to continue to maintain discipline within their ranks to produce dedicated and talented footballers.
The Chairman said discipline is the only panacea that could help the Club to unearth potential and hidden talents in the rural areas to improve their living conditions and also ensure the development of soccer in the country.
Mr Amankwa said the Club has instituted a policy to hunt for talented young footballers living in the remotest parts of the country to assist polish their soccer talents.
He advised the players to desist from alcoholism, drug abuse and indiscriminate sex that could jeopardize their future ambitions.
Mr Frank Kwabena Oppong, Vice Chairman of the Club expressed joy at the formation of the Club at Agona Swedru, which he said would go a long way in promoting the development of soccer in the area.
He called for financial assistance to enable the club perform its expected role since it is capital intensive to invest in the recruitment of players and other facilities.
Mr Oppong said that the Club would participate in the Second Division League this year and urged the players to intensify their training to enable the team qualify to the First Division.
Mr Kofi Essuman, the head coach of the Club asked parents to support their children to enable them excel in the profession to enable them achieve their aims and objectives.
