The First West African Universities Games will be held at the University of Ghana, Legon from Saturday, March 22 and ends on Saturday, March 29.Mr. Anthony Tetteh Oppai, Head Coach of the University of Ghana, who announced this in Accra on Monday said 50 universities from West Africa, are expected to participate in the seven-day games of soccer, volleyball, tennis, athletics, badminton, swimming, table tennis, judo, chess and hockey.He named some of the universities as University of Ghana, the host, University of Cape Coast, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, University College of Education Winneba, University of Port Harcourt, University of Conakry, Obafemi Awolowo University, University du Cocody, Cote d’Ivoire, Amadu Bello University and University du Bouake.Mr Oppai said the aim of the event, under the theme: ‘Integrating the sub-regional future leaders through sports participation’ is also to strengthen the already existing cordial relationship between the West African Universities.Source: GNA
