The poor performance of league champions Accra Hearts of Oak has been blamed on internal wrangling.
The internal bickering was precipitated by fall outs from 2004 National Chapters Committee elections.
This was disclosed at this year’s elections to elect new NCC executive.
Mr. Carl Okoe of the Accra Hearts of Oak Old Players Association said this at the congress which was on the theme: “Together as one”.
He said the players, management and supporters of the club approached the match with Kotoko with unity of purpose resulting in their impressive performance.
He therefore called on the rank and file of the club to stand together for the task ahead.
At Saturday’s congress, therefore was obvious inertia as supporters were not enthused by the club’s performance.
In an attempt to lift the spirit of the fans, the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr Commodore Mensah said all was not lost and that the club’s position on the league table will improve by the end of the second round of matches.
Hearts is currently on the third position from the bottom in the sixteen club league.
Mr. Mensah gave the assurance that measures were being put in place to improve the club’s standing.
Touching on some of the measures, he said the Board was considering floating the shares of the club to raise the much needed funds.
In that regard, a floatation committee had been formed to work on the process to make it possible for the floating of shares to take effect.
He said the committee’s report will be presented before congress for a final decision.
Mr. Mensah urged all supporters of the club to love each other and give reverence where it is due.
That he said was the only way the supporters, players, and management would be considerate in maligning others if they had any grievance.
