Liberty Professionals’ goalie, Patrick Antwi says he is yet to recover from his disastrous outing for the Black Stars against Mexico in England on Thursday, March 27, this year.Antwi replaced regular goalkeeper Richard Kingson at the start of the break and conceded two goals, the first, in the 77th minute, turning out a bizarre equalizer after the Stars had taken the lead.Patrick had received a back-pass from midfielder, Michael Essien but slipped to the floor as he tried a pass, enabling Carlos Salsido to pounce.Mexico’s winner came from the spot in the final minutes of the game when defender Eric Addo pulled down a Mexican attacker in the box.The 24-year-old Patrick Antwi told Joy Sports he is yet to come to terms with events of the day which came to him in a ‘flash’.“I went through a different condition and a different situation altogether. It was raining, and the turf was a different thing altogether for me. I wasn’t expecting it. After the first half they went to the dressing room and they just came out and I was told I am going to play so I just psyched myself up and just went into the goal. What happened was just unfortunate. The thing just happened as a flash. I can’t even remember how he took the ball to me,” Antwi told Joy Sports’ Ernest Koranteng.Patrick admitted an instant clearance was an option but he had decided to give a pass to debutant Harrison Afful who had taken position when the mishap occurred. He fears he may not get the chance again to play for the Black Stars, taking a cue from celebrated defender Samuel Osei Kufuor whose contributions at the Black Stars have since the 2006 World Cup been on hold following a blunder.
