The first leg of the ultimate qualifying round match for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup between Ghana and DR Congo has been rescheduled to Monday.
The match, originally fixed for Saturday at the El-Wak Stadium in Accra would now come off two days later at the same grounds following the late arrival of the away team for the first leg fixture.
According to the International Relations of Officer of the Ghana Football Association, Alex Asante, the Congolese side arrived in Accra, Saturday afternoon at 13:00 GMT, thus making it impossible to go ahead with the game scheduled for 15:00 GMT.
Saturday's planned game was one of the three matches scheduled for this weekend as Africa’s qualifiers narrows down to six teams with all attempting to pick one of the three qualifying places tot he World Cup.
The winners of the two-leg fixture qualify for the World Cup to be hosted by New Zealand from October 30 to November 16, 2008.
The other qualifiers on the continent involves the game in Monrovia between Liberia and Nigeria while Cameroon stay at home to play South Africa.
The second leg matches has been fixed for May 16-18.
